Helio Gracie, the Grand Master/founder of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/Gracie Jiu-jitsu has passed away on January 29, 2009.
He was 95 years old, and was teaching/training on the mat up until 10 days before his death when he became ill with pneumonia. Everyone who practices Jiu-Jitsu around the world should show their respects with a moment of silence (at the very least) for none of us would know the benefits of this art were it not for the accomplishments and foresight of this one man. May his soul rest in peace and may God bless the Gracie Family. We offer a deep bow of respect to Helio Gracie, and our hearts go out to the entire Gracie family at this time.
